Stenhouse Jr. Ready To Tackle Bristol Motor Speedway

Concord, N.C. (March 18, 2010) -- When Ricky Stenhouse Jr. hits the Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend he will apply a different mindset than he used during the first month of the season. The approach is simple, get back to what has made him successful and that means getting everything out of the car. Recently, Stenhouse has been more focused on protecting his equipment which may have resulted in being involved in more on track incidents. Stenhouse hopes returning to his original mindset of hard racing gets him back to running up front.

"We're definitely in a hole right now but I've been so focused on just finishing that I forgot about the racing part," said Stenhouse. "But, after having the past two weeks off, I've decided to drive like I used to in my sprint car and that is to run the race to be competitive and not run to just finish. I think it's going to work out good that way. I need to get into the race car and drive every lap at 110 percent." But Stenhouse, who will make his Bristol debut on Saturday, knows being cautiously aggressive on the concrete high banks is crucial to surviving. It's that delicate balance that could be the difference between a solid finish and a DNF.

"Bristol is a fast track and things can happen in a heartbeat but all I can do is focus on doing my job," added Stenhouse. "If I put myself and my team in the right spot, everything will turn out fine. I just need to stay on top of the wheel and be smart."
