Ben Kennedy secures partial season ride with RCR Xfinity team
Ben Kennedy will pilot the No. 2 Richard Childress Racing Chevy for nine races in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
Kennedy, 25, will share driving duties with Austin Dillon and Paul Menard. He will have sponsorship from both Menard’s and Rheem.
"I am looking forward to working with Rheem, Menards and the No. 2 XFINITY Series team," said Kennedy. "I'm thrilled that well-respected brands like Rheem and Menards are willing to lend their support and provide the opportunity to prove what I can do. I may not have the experience that Cup Series drivers do, but I'm confident that I have what it takes to get to Victory Lane.”
Kennedy made his NXS debut last year at Iowa Speedway with RCR. He qualified sixth and finsihed 10th. Kennedy came up through the NASCAR ladder starting in the K&N Pro Series East tour where he competed for three seasons and won twice before graduating into the Camping World Truck Series.
Kennedy scored his first truck win last year driving for Red Horse Racing at Bristol Motor Speedway. He finished a career-high seventh in the standings.
Kennedy is the son of International Speedway Corporation CEO Lesa France Kennedy and great grandson of NASCAR founder Bill France.
