Colin Braun is a rising star, competing with Roush-Fenway Racing this year. Braun, who competes in the Craftsman Truck Series, will make his O'Reilly Raceway Park debut by doing double duty. He'll compete in the Craftsman Truck Series, where he leads the rookie point standings, and the Nationwide Series. This weekend will mark Braun's sixth appearance in the Nationwide Series. "Short tracks are so different from the road courses that I grew up racing at, but I love the challenge of learning something completely new," Braun said. "This is my last race of the year with Eddie Pardue and these CitiFinancial guys so I'd love to go out on a high note with a solid top-10 finish."
Pardue said, "ORP is a tough track, especially your first time there, so I'm glad Colin will have the truck race on Friday to feel the track out. He's adapted really well to all of the different tracks he's seen this year both in our car and in his truck and I'm sure this weekend will be no different."
Roush-Fenway Racing will have eleven vehicles competing in Indianapolis this weekend. The team has 5 drivers entered at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway: David Ragan, Greg Biffle, Matt Kenseth, Jamie McMurray and Carl Edwards. The team will field Ragan, Edwards and Colin Braun in the Nationwide Series at O'Reilly Raceway Park. On Friday night at ORP, Braun, Bobby East and Erik Darnell will compete in the Craftsman Truck Series.
Officials of Rusty Wallace Racing, LLC and Penske Racing announced today that Penske Truck Rental will serve as primary sponsor of Rusty Wallace Racing's No. 64 entry, piloted by David Stremme, in this weekend's NASCAR Nationwide Series event at O'Reilly Raceway Park. In addition to this weekend's event, Stremme's car will carry Penske-affiliated colors in the August races at Michigan, California and Bristol.
Rusty Wallace drove for Penske South from 1991 until his retirement in 2005, earning 37 of his 55 career victories during his tenure.
While Marcos Ambrose is busy attempting to qualify for the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard with the brand new JTG Racing team, he'll have plenty of help with his Nationwide Series ride at O'Reilly Raceway Park. Robert Pressley, a longtime driver and mentor at JTG Racing, will practice the car at ORP. The team did the same thing last month when Ambrose made his Cup debut at Infineon Raceway in Northern California. Ambrose is scheduled to be at ORP in plenty of time to start the Nationwide Series race.
"I still love being in the race car," Pressley said. "The cars seem to evolve every week, but the basics never change. My job is to make the car comfortable for Marcos. I have a good idea what he likes. We plan to build a lot of adjustability into the car so they have a lot of flexibility with their setup once the race starts."
Jason Leffler returns to O'Reilly Raceway Park (ORP) as the defending race winner. Leffler made history last year by giving Toyota its first NASCAR Nationwide Series victory. Leffler is scheduled to make his 175th career start in the Nationwide Series at ORP.
