Great Clips Named Title Sponsor for Labor Day Weekend NASCAR Nationwide Series Event at Atlanta Motor Speedway
HAMPTON, Ga. (May 18, 2010) -- Great Clips, the world's largest hair salon brand, will serve as title sponsor for the Sept. 4th NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, the Great Clips 300.
The Great Clips 300 will feature a 195-lap format on Atlanta Motor Speedway's 1.54-mile quad-oval track and is slated for a 7:00 p.m. start time on Saturday of Atlanta's Labor Day NASCAR night racing weekend.
"On behalf of all of our franchisees from more than 2,800 salons in the United States and Canada, we are excited to sponsor the Great Clips 300 at Atlanta Motor Speedway," said Great Clips President, Rhoda Olsen. "Being part of NASCAR is a powerful opportunity for us to showcase the Great Clips brand with millions of existing customers and race fans.
"We are proud of our long-standing affiliation with the Nationwide Series and believe this title race is a testimony to Great Clips' leadership of the hair care category within NASCAR. With the support of the entire Braun Racing organization and Kasey Kahne at the wheel, we are looking forward to a great race in Atlanta."
Great Clips is the primary sponsor of the No. 38 Toyota for Braun Racing, co-piloted by Jason Leffler and Kasey Kahne for the 2010 season. Great Clips has been a sponsor in the Nationwide Series since 2000, and the longest-standing primary sponsor in the Series.
Kahne, who will pilot the No. 38 Toyota in the Great Clips 300, won Atlanta's 2009 Labor Day weekend NASCAR Sprint Cup Series night race. Kahne also gave Great Clips their first Nationwide Series victory in 2003.
With only nine events remaining after the Sept. 4 race, the Great Clips 300 will serve as a decisive point in the 2010 NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule. Many Nationwide Series teams will likely go for broke in the Great Clips 300 in an effort to claim critical points entering the final leg of the season. The event is also expected to draw an influx of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stars eager for seat time to better prep for Atlanta's Sprint Cup Series race, also a vital juncture prior to the start of the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
NASCAR night racing returns to Atlanta Motor Speedway on Labor Day weekend and tickets for the Great Clips 300 start at just $25. For more information, call the Atlanta Motor Speedway Ticket Office at (770) 946-3917, (877) 9-AMS-TIX, or visit www.atlantamotorspeedway.com.
