BUSCH SEEKING FIRST ATLANTA NATIONWIDE WIN
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (September 1, 2009) - It's amazing to think that Kyle Busch has yet to win at Atlanta Motor Speedway in NASCAR Nationwide Series competition. He's led a total of 338 laps in five career races, including a 153 laps-led performance in 2008. He's yet to start outside of the top ten. How long until Busch finds victory lane at the 1.5-mile quad-oval?
This Saturday could be his best shot to-date. Busch, the current Nationwide Series point leader, will climb aboard the No. 18 NOS Energy Drink Toyota Camry searching for his seventh series win of 2009 and first career series win at AMS.
Busch currently holds a 192 point lead over rival Carl Edwards in the NASCAR Nationwide Series standings, following a 10th-place finish last weekend in Montreal.
What will it take for you to score your first Nationwide Series win in Atlanta?
"We've proven that we can lead at this place. The last two times I've been here in the Nationwide car, we've led the most laps and still came up short. I don't know what it is, but this is a fun, fast track and it's a place where JGR has been really good at historically. If we go out there on Saturday and race the way we are capable and have some things fall our way, I'm sure that we can contend for a win with the NOS Energy Drink Toyota."
Kyle Busch has never won a NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, but in five career starts, he has led a total of 338 laps.
Busch has never started outside of the top ten in Nationwide Series competition at Atlanta. Busch suffered a blown engine two laps into his Nationwide Series debut at Atlanta in 2003, settling for a 43rd-place finish.
