Timothy Peters Looking For A Texas Sized Finish In The Lone Star
Peters at Texas...The WinStar World Casino 400 will mark Timothy Peters' fifth start at Texas Motor Speedway. Peters has his work cut out for him in the Lone Star State. In four previous events, he earned his best finish of 12th in this event last season. He followed that up with a 19th place finish last fall. In three of the four races, Peters earned top-20 finishes. Peters feels better equipped than ever before to earn his first top-10 finish on the 1.5 mile tri-oval. Behind the wheel of his favorite chassis, Peters plans to rewrite history this Friday night. So far this season, he has earned five top-10 finishes in only seven races. Three of those top-10's game behind the wheel of chassis #138.
Still In The Hunt...After suffering through two difficult weekends in Kansas and Dover, Peters proved he and the #17 team are back on track at Charlotte. Earning a 10th place finish, a career best for Peters at Charlotte Motor Speedway, he hopes the bad luck is behind him. After electrical issues at Kansas and a blown tire and engine in Dover, Peters slipped in the driver point standings from first to third but he is still very much in the hunt. Peters is just 86 points behind the leader. The #17 Tundra now sits fifth in Owner Point Standings, 135 points back.
Timothy Peters on racing at Texas Motor Speedway "I really like Texas Motor Speedway. It looks like the typical cookie cutter but it has its own unique character. It's a fast track and you can really stay in the throttle longer than most tracks. I haven't had a lot of luck there in the past. Last year we were running pretty good and blew a right front tire. We are hoping to turn that around this weekend. We will unload my favorite chassis so that gives me a lot of confidence."
Jeff Hensley on racing at Texas Motor Speedway "Texas Motor Speedway is one of my favorite tracks. Our mile and a half program is getting better and better each week. I think we are head and shoulders above where we were at the beginning of the season when we raced Atlanta. We have gone from qualifying in the 20's to qualifying in the top-10's on the intermediate tracks. Timothy really likes this chassis and we are improving on it with each race. I look forward to these races now because I know we are getting better week in and week out. Hopefully we can keep the momentum from a top-10 at Charlotte going into Friday night in Texas!"
Equipment Information Timothy Peters will compete with chassis #138 in the WinStar World Casino 400 at Texas Motor Speedway. Peters last raced this chassis at Nashville where he finished fourth and Charlotte where he finished 10th.
