Raybestos Rookie Driver to Make First Pavement Start at Ft. Worth Texas Track in the No. 46 CENTRIX Auto Finance Silverado
Ft. Worth, TX (June 6, 2006) - Kraig Kinser has made many trips to the Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) complex since it opened. But those trips were to compete in his fire-breathing winged dirt sprint car on the TMS Dirt Track that sits outside the backstretch of the 1.5-mile tri-oval.
This weekend, the Bloomington, IN native will climb in the cockpit of his No. 46 CENTRIX Auto Finance Silverado to race for the first time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) on the pavement of TMS. The Sam's Town 400 will be Kinser's ninth race behind the wheel of the Morgan-Dollar Motorsports fielded Chevy Silverado.
"I have always run well at the Dirt Track at Texas, so I think that is why I am excited about this weekend, and I always look forward to running the sprint car here. I have watched IROC (International Race of Champions), NASCAR Busch Series, and the Nextel Cup Series race at Texas before, so this weekend will be my chance to get some laps under my belt. "
The learning curve for Kinser continues Friday night at TMS. As a Raybestos Rookie in the NCTS, Kinser faces the uphill task of learning the track and getting up to speed in a very short amount of time.
"I am anxious to get to Texas and get on the track," Kinser said. "Texas is another track on my list that I have never raced on before, so it will be a learning experience for me also. The #46 guys have been working so hard, and I really want to give them a good run this weekend."
In his first full-time season in the (NCTS), Kinser's CENTRIX Auto Finance-sponsored Silverado is a joint effort between MDM and MB2 Motorsports. He joined the MB2 driver development program last season.
The first practice for the Sam's Town 400 is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. CDT on Thursday. A Rookie-only practice will precede final practice set for 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Qualifying will start at 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening. The 36-truck starting field will be impounded until just prior to the start of the 167-lap/250.5-mile/400K race Friday at 8:15 p.m. CDT.
SPEED TV, MRN Radio and XM Satellite Radio will bring all the live action to fans beginning at 8:00 p.m. CDT Friday evening.
