Bakersfield, CA - The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series returns to its birthplace this weekend as the trucks invade the Mesa Marin Raceway for the OSH 250. Dennis Setzer driver of the #46 Acxiom/Computer Associates Chevrolet hopes that he can find the magic he had in 1998 when he won at the half mile and help turn 2001 in the right direction.
"Bakersfield is a fun track and a special track for me. I grew up racing on tracks that are very similar to Bakersfield with the rough pavement and are hard to get hold of; it's kind of like a homecoming for me. Bakersfield is also a rough place to race on equipment, there is a lot of banging and bumping going on so you have to race smart and be patient. You can't get to excited because before you know it you will be backed up into the wall. I think the Morgan/Dollar Motorsports team has a great shot heading to Bakersfield, and I can't wait to get back because it is the location of my first Craftsman Truck Series win."
Dennis Setzer is a past winner at the half-mile track winning the Dodge California Truck Stop 300 in 1998 while driving for the injured Bob Keselowski. In the past two years at the track Setzer has not started or finished outside the top-10. Setzer finished the 1999 race in sixth place and rode to an eighth place standing last year.
Morgan/Dollar Motorsports has gotten off to a rough start in 2001 with Setzer behind the wheel. The team has had strong showings running in the top-three in Daytona and qualifying in the top-ten in Homestead before suffering engine problems at both tracks.
"We have proven we can run up front, we were running third in Daytona, and we even led there before experiencing problems. I know that this team has what it takes to win and I know that it is only a matter of time before we put it together," remarked Setzer.
Setzer and the Acxiom/Computer Associates Racing team know that Bakersfield is the place that they can turn there season around. Setzer sits in 18th place in the point's standings only 68 points from the top-10.
You can catch all the green flag action for the OSH 250 beginning at 8:00 p.m. eastern standard time on ESPN2 Saturday March 17.
