Richmond, Virginia played host to NASCAR's Craftsman Truck Series in an unusual Thursday night running that saw Skip Barber trained Jack Sprague pull out a 6 second gap most of the way and hold off all challengers to the end.

Sprague brought home his fourth victory of the season by taking the lead in an unstable three-way points race by 27 over the previous series leader. The Skip Barber trained racer and two-time CTS champion led the most laps in eight of the 19 races this season. He led 196 of the 200 laps Thursday night, most of them without a challenge. In fact, Sprague could have had a chauffeur drive him around the .75 mile Richmond International Raceway D-oval for the first 180 circuits, as good as his Truck seemed to be.

Sprague started second, seized the lead from fellow Skip Barber trrained pole-winner Dennis Setzer the second time around, and quickly disappeared. Cautions on Lap 20 and Lap 31 slowed the runaway briefly, but Sprague built a lead of 2.2 sec. by Lap 50, and of nearly 5 sec. by the next caution, on Lap 70. Setzer followed Sprague home with a third place result.
