Sauter goes two for two with Martinsville victory

Johnny Sauter, driver of the No. 98 ThorSport Racing Toyota kept his 2013 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series campaign perfect by taking the win Saturday in the Kroger 250 at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. It was his second win of the year, only two races into the season.

"Two for two starting out," Sauter said in victory lane. "That's amazing."

Teammate Matt Crafton finished second in the No. 88 Toyota to give ThorSport a one-two finish.

"Very good for ThorSport," Crafton said. "It just shows what this team is going to have this season.

Jeb Burton finished third in the No. 4 Turner Scott Motorsports Chevrolet after starting on the pole he earned with a track qualifying record on Friday.

Burton led the way until the No. 9 NTS Motorsports Chevrolet of Ron Hornaday took the lead on a restart following a lap-70 caution. Burton also lost second on the same restart to the No. 17 Red Horse Racing Toyota of Timothy Peters.

Kevin Harvick made his way toward the front in the No. 24 NTS Motorsports Chevrolet to take the lead from teammate Hornaday on lap 98. Hornaday quickly took back the lead and Burton then got by Harvick to take second.

While racing Hornaday for the lead, Burton made contact with Hornaday's No. 9, sending it into a spin. As a result, Burton moved back into the top spot and Harvick moved back up to second.

Burton was able to stay out front and hold Harvick off on a couple of following restarts before he gave up the lead to head down pit road during a caution with 107 laps to go. Harvick and the No. 30 Turner Scott Motorsports Chevrolet of Nelson Piquet Jr. were among those who stayed out to restart first and second.

Piquet took the lead on the restart as Harvick lost several positions and Darrell Wallace Jr. moved up to the second spot in his No. 54 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota. Wallace then took the lead from Piquet with 86 laps to go.

Wallace and Piquet then gave up the top-two spots in the running order when the next caution came out on lap 196. Burton and Peters stayed out under that caution to restart in the first two positions.

Peters took the lead from Burton on a restart following a caution that came out with 44 laps to go, but it didn't take Burton long to get back by to retake the top spot.

With 25 laps remaining, Sauter, on newer tires, took second from Peters and restarted on the front row next to race leader Burton on a restart that followed a caution with 22 laps to go. Sauter took the lead from Burton on the restart.

"I just tried to time it just right," Sauter said of his move to the lead on the final restart.

With about 10 laps remaining, Crafton joined his teammate up front in the second spot.

"We just lost forward bite coming off the corner," Burton said of losing the top-two positions in the final laps of the race.

Peters finished fourth, and Wallace rounded out the top-five.

The yellow flag waved 11 times in the 250 lap race, even though the first caution of the event didn't come out until lap 58.
