Rick Crawford Texas race report

Fort Worth, TX- Rick Crawford and the #14 Milwaukee Tool Ford raced to a 20th place finish at the O'Reilly 400k at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth Texas. The #14 Ford started the race in 8th place after mother nature rained out qualifying after over half of the trucks made their attempt. The #14 was on the outside of the front row when NASCAR canceled qualifying. For the fifth straight race, rain has affected the race weekend on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

The Milwaukee Tool Ford for the second week in a row had one of the fastest trucks on the track. The #14 Ford took the lead on lap 20 when a caution flag flew and the team elected not to pit and by doing so picked up five valuable bonus points towards the championship. "The truck seemed to run better out front, Goodyear has such good tires that it seemed to be the right call", stated crew chief Ray Stonkus. On lap 30 the caution flew again the Heavy Duty Pit Crew went to work on the #14 Ford. In what was to be a normal pit stop was anything but. The truck developed an electrical problem and cut off in the pit stall and the team worked hard to restart it but the pace truck passed the team while they were still on pit lane, putting the team a lap down. "It really is a shame, the truck was one of the best trucks out there today and for the second straight week, our finish did not indicate how good we were", stated driver Rick Crawford. The team did not give up and got the #14 back on the track and as fast as ever.

The #14 Ford battled hard and got its lap back but desperately needed a caution flag to bunch the field back up if it was to have a chance to win. But before the caution flag would come out again, the Milwaukee Electric Tool Ford had to pit for 76 racing fuel and lost the lap it had regained. Three laps later the caution flag flew for debris on the track. With the race winding down, Crawford drove his heart out and unfortunately the wheels off of the truck as he scraped the wall and had to come into the pits for right side tires. That last pit stop dashed the hopes for a victory for the Milwaukee Electric Tool Ford. "Two weeks in a row we got bit by bad luck, we're a strong team, we'll pick up and go to Memphis and look to put the #14 Ford in victory lane", stated Crawford.
