Sparta, KY- Rick Crawford and the #14 Milwaukee Electric Tool Ford Saturday night racing came to an early end with engine problems. The #14 Ford's night ended on lap 88 when a part of the engine broke. That broken part, seized the oil pump, stopping the vital flow of oil into the engine. The #14 Ford was in seventh place when the fatal mechanical problem ended the team's night.
The #14 Milwaukee Electric Tool Ford qualified in 13th position for the Kroger 225 on Friday the 13th. When asked about Friday the 13th, Rick Crawford replied, "That may have been part of the problem, I was hoping it would bring us good luck."
The #14 Ford had been running strong all during race. Crawford had a good handling race truck and was able to drive in and out of the corners without any problem. "Ray Stonkus and the Heavy Duty Crew did a great job preparing the truck. The team right now is the best it has ever been. It is a real shame that the motor let go and ended our night," stated Crawford. Crawford drove the Milwaukee Electric Tool Ford in and out of traffic with skill and precision. An early caution sent the #14 flying thru the infield to avoid a spin coming off of turn four. After pitting to clean the front grill of grass and debris, Crawford soared from 23rd on the restart to 10th within one lap. The # 14 Ford avoided several accidents that a driver of lesser caliber might not have been able to accomplish. "We dodged several bullets out there today, and a top finish was certainly not out of the question," stated Crawford.
The Milwaukee Electric Tool Ford slipped one position in the championship point race to ninth. The team, however, is within striking distance of getting back into the top 5. "We still have our sights set on winning races and finishing in the top 5 in the championship point race," commented Crawford.
