Dana Racing Notes

* Joe's Back: Joe Ruttman will be back in the #18 Dana/Dodge truck for this weeks running of the Granger 225K NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Portland International Raceway in Portland, Oregon. Ruttman who took over the #18 Dana truck last week at Texas is an accomplished road racer with two victories in the Truck Series (Watkins Glen 1998, and Topeka 1997). He also won the pole at Watkins Glen in 1998 but this race may be a little different. This will be the first time Ruttman has ever been to Portland International Raceway to race. "I've been to the track a few years ago when my wife was catering a CART event, but I never got the chance to get out on the track," said Ruttman. "I think we'll be good. The Dana team has a really good truck that the guys have been talking about so I'm getting a little excited about it." The other exciting item that may play a factor in the event is the fact that Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company is supplying rain tires to the track and the trucks will run rain or shine. It will be a first if the rain comes and the race is run under wet conditions. "I hope it does not rain," said Ruttman. "But if that's what happens then we'll just have to adapt and see what we can do." * Testing: The Bobby Hamilton/Dana Racing team will be running the same truck they tested with three weeks ago Roebling Road in Savannah, Georgia. Roebling Road is a road course that many of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team's tested their trucks at over the last few months. During those tests the Dana truck recorded one of, if not the fastest times, getting everyone on the team excited about their chances of a strong showing on the road races coming up in the next two weeks. "We know how good he has been on the road courses so we think our chances are pretty good to run up front," said Andy Dunlap, General Manager of Bobby Hamilton Racing. "The team took our road course truck to the test track a few weeks ago and they were the best truck there so a top 5 is definitely possible.

* Joe Ruttman moved from 36th to 29th in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Point Standing following his 11th place finish at the Texas Motor Speedway.
