Hmiel Ready For Redemption in Phoenix
MOORESVILLE, NC (November 1, 2004) --Shane Hmiel is ready for redemption in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Chevy Silverado 150 at Phoenix International Speedway. Hmiel, coming off a disappointing finish at Martinsville Speedway two weeks ago, is ready to put it behind him and hopes to drive the No. 15 TRIMSPA Chevrolet to victory in Phoenix.
"Our performance in Martinsville wasn't exactly what I had hoped for," Hmiel said. "The No. 15 Team TRIMSPA Chevrolet had given us problems from the beginning. I didn't think the damage I suffered after scraping the wall during happy hour would affect us but it did. We just couldn't get the handling the way we wanted it. I'm ready to put it behind me and focus on Phoenix."
Hmiel is no stranger to Phoenix International Speedway. He raced there in the NASCAR Busch Series during his rookie season but unfortunately fell victim to an early on-track incident which kept him from finishing the race.
"I'm looking forward to hopping back into the TRIMSPA Chevrolet Silverado," Hmiel said. "I've raced at Phoenix in the Busch Series a few years back but was involved in a crash early in the race. I'm looking forward to seeing how the truck will handle on the track. It has fast straights and tight corners. Phoenix offers two groove racing which allows for easier passing. I know that Ritchie and the rest of the guys from Billy Ballew Motorsports will have an excellent truck with enough horsepower under the hood to get us up front. We are focused on racing to get into the top-10 in points. We only have a few races left and I need to get up hard on the wheel and pick up as many points as possible in the Team TRIMSPA Chevrolet for Billy Ballew Motorsports."
Hmiel will again be playing double duty this weekend racing the No. 32 TRIMSPA Dodge in the NASCAR Busch Series. Friday's Chevy Silverado 150 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race can be seen live on SPEED at 5:30 p.m. ET and Saturday's NASCAR Bush Series Bashas' Supermarket 200 will be televised live at 3:30 p.m. on NBC. Both races can be heard on MRN and XM Satellite Radio.
