MARCOS AMBROSE THIRD IN PHOENIX PRACTICE

Marcos Ambrose has set himself up for a strong weekend in the Team Australia NASCAR Truck with third place in practice for the Casino Arizona 150 at Phoenix International Raceway today.

Ambrose's 130 mph lap around the unique Arizona track was faster than any other Ford F-150 or Raybetsos Rookie contender and prepares him for a solid performance in tomorrow's 150-lap race.

The Tasmanian Wood Brothers/JTG Racing pilot completed 47 laps across first practice and rookie practice, gaining valuable on-track time as he familiarised himself with the unique layout at Phoenix International Raceway.

The Aussie Vineyards driver continually improved his lap times throughout the sessions and his fastest time, recorded on one of his final laps of the day, was only one tenth of a second behind the fastest lap posted amongst the 35 trucks competing in Arizona.

Veteran driver Mike Skinner, winner of the first ever NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Phoenix International Raceway in 1995, set the fastest time in practice ahead of David Starr.

"This is a good start to the weekend for us, but tomorrow is when it counts," said Ambrose.

"Phoenix is certainly an interesting track and we got the Aussie Vineyards truck going pretty well around here by the end of the day today.

"We have a good truck and the team is doing a great job and giving me every chance of another top result, so I'm really looking forward to tomorrow.

"It would be nice to get a good qualifying result under our belt to give us a good starting spot. We definitely have the truck to do it so we'll see how it pans out.

"It's a long race but so far things are looking good for us here in Phoenix."
