DID YOU RENEW YOUR FEUD WITH CRAFTON TODAY?
"We raced side by side for a long time. I thought we got past that a long time ago. Matt came up alongside me after the deal and motioned to me like he was sorry, and I'm sure he was. I don't feel like he did it intentionally, he just drove into the corner too deep and slid up and got into us. At that time we were way ahead of him and he drove in the corner real deep, slid up and just turned us. As it turned out we needed a caution anyway to work on it, but what it did, we got the caution but it killed us on track position and we were never able to make it up the rest of the day. We just fought too tight all day. We unloaded and we were way too tight through the center and carried it right through he race. It was a tough long day."
ARE YOU SURPRISED PASSING WAS SO DIFFICULT? "It was. I've never seen the track so greasy on the outside groove. I'm not sure if that's because it's dark out here already, or what the situation was. There was no second groove in three and four. You could get outside in one and two and do some racing out there and some passing, but you couldn't do anything on the outside in three and four. You just had to ride around out there and the front tires were sliding all the way through the corners. Unfortunately, you just had to gouge on the bottom."

"That was so much fun. Phoenix International Raceway was the first race track that I ever came to and ran a pavement car in 2001. This place holds a lot of special memories for me. I'm glad to be part of the Superchips Roush Racing 99 team. I just had to pinch myself. I had so much fun driving this thing and to be racing with veterans like Bobby Hamilton and Dennis Setzer, I'm just having a blast. The team does an awesome job, it was just too loose. If it would have been a little tighter, we would have maybe finished up a little farther frontward."
YOU HAVE ADDED A NEW TRACK TO YOUR CRAFTSMAN TRUCK SERIES RESUME. "I've been able to learn a lot of things. I've been really fortunate to have great help from great folks. I just cannot describe how fortunate I feel just to be here, no less to run this well. It's so much fun and I cannot wait to come back to these tracks for the second time. It's almost like this time is our test session, and the second time is our race. We'll be fast next year."
RICK CRAWFORD-14-Circle Bar Motel & RV Park Ford F-150 (Finished 11th) -
WHAT HAPPENED THAT CAUSED YOU COME INTO THE PITS FOR AN EXTENDED STOP UNDER CAUTION? "It's Halloween and there were ghosts and goblins in that thing. Something was either rubbing or something was leaking because when I'd go in the corner, the cockpit inside the truck filled up with smoke. The guys worked hard and we did all we could do. The Circle Bar team can go on to Homestead and we'll wrap this thing up this year."
WAS IT A ONE-GROOVE TRACK TODAY? "When you make the race track wider, a truck that's not necessarily handling well can use it all, and he can keep up the speed. The way it was when it was such a narrow groove, you really had to work on you chassis and that's what made a lot more passing. Other than that, you do what you have to do and they changed it. We were running up front in the beginning, but like I say, when you have that fog inside the truck it looked like dry ice on Halloween."
JON WOOD-50- Roush Racing Ford F-150 (Finished 7th) -
TRACK POSITION SEEMED TO BE THE BIG KEY TODAY. "Yeah, it was a one-groove race track and that made it tough, especially on restarts. If someone would get under you, you couldn't get back down in line. Us starting last because of the motor change certainly didn't help matters and we just got a bad set of tires at the end and couldn't get it done."
WHAT HAPPENED BETWEEN YOU AND BRENDAN GAUGHAN? "I got a little sideways and got into Brendan; that was an accident. It's good that it didn't hurt either of the two of us. That's just the way it is."
CARL EDWARDS PRESS CONFERENCE
IT APPEARED THAT YOU MADE CONTACT WITH THE WALL IN THE CLOSING LAPS BUT IT DIDN'T SEEM TO AFFECT THE TRUCK'S HANDLING? "It was just a whole bunch of fun getting to race with these guys. This is my first time here in a stock car, and it's just kinda like a big lesson for me and getting to race with guys that are this good really helps a lot. I'm really excited to bring the Superchips Ford here next year. I think we'll be even faster. That wall incident was just a product of wanting to win too bad. I know better than to do that, but I had to try something, and I just got a little too high."
