Red Man Racing Notes
The Brewco Motorsports NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team, which will enter eight Craftsman Truck Series events in 1997 with David Green, Mark Green and Scot Walters alternating the driving duties, tested the No. 37 Red Man Chevrolet on two separate occasions prior to competing in the Western Auto Parts America 200 at I- 70 Speedway. On May 6, Walters and M. Green tested at the Kentucky Motor Speedway in Whitesville, Kentucky, a track on which both drivers have vast experience. "It felt great," said Walters. "I was expecting a drastic difference between the truck and an All-Pro car, but it felt very similar and comfortable." Walters, a native of Louisville, Kentucky, has competed in the NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series for the past four seasons, earning the 1993 Rookie-of-the-Year title. In eight 1996 Slim Jim All Pro starts, Walters won two races (Winchester, Indiana and Homestead, Florida) and scored one pole (Louisville, Kentucky). Walters and M. Green tested a second time at the high-banked Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana on May 13. "In the second test, I concentrated on getting comfortable driving the truck," explained Walters. "I have a lot of track time at Winchester and it allowed me to focus only on the truck."
The No. 37 Red Man Chevrolet truck which Scot Walters will drive in the Western Auto Parts America 200 at I-70 Speedway is named '008'. All other Brewco Motorsports race cars have been named but the truck, which has never been raced, is still just numbered. "We name all of our race cars after it has been around for a while," said team manger Todd Wilkerson. "The truck is brand new and we are waiting to see it's 'personality' before we name it."
John's Cigarette Outlet, with six locations in the greater Kansas City Area, is an associate sponsor on the No. 37 Red Man Chevrolet for the Western Auto Parts America 200.
