Statement from the Nemechek family

The following is a statement from the Nemechek family regarding the passing of their son, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver John.

"We've been overwhelmed by the love and support our family has received throughout this terrible tragedy. We can't begin to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has helped us with their thoughts, support and prayers. It has meant a great deal to our family.

"Our thanks go out to the NASCAR community, the fine doctors, nurses and staff at Jackson Memorial Hospital for their tireless efforts, and our dear friends who have been there in our time of need. To the many fans and even strangers who have contacted us, we appreciate your words of concern and support.

"John was a great man who had a limitless future ahead of him. He was a hard-working individual pursuing his dream in racing. Every obstacle he encountered, John met it with a winning attitude and a smile. John's personal and professional accomplishments were many throughout his life.

"John was a person that loved life, his family and racing. He believed in God and knew that God would guide him in the right direction in life, as well as in heaven. We know now that he is a big part of God's plan, because through him so many people have reached to God for comfort and guidance through this difficult time. 1 "His time on Earth, although short, was a gift from God our family will forever treasure. We will deeply miss his smiling face, fun-loving personality and his great story-telling. John was the one with the big heart, the willingness to take time for others and was there with a big bear-hug when you needed it.

"Our dear son, uncle, cousin, loved one and friend, you will forever be in our thoughts and hearts. We love you, John."
