NAZARETH, Pa. (July 17, 1999) Quotes from selected drivers following Saturday's Bud Pole Qualifying for Sunday's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series NAPA AutoCare 200 at Nazareth Speedway.

GREG BIFFLE No. 50 Grainger Racing Ford "It was a pretty good lap for the Grainger Ford. We were quite a bit better than that in practice. I left a little bit on the table there and was nervous that somebody would beat me. I think that is the closest qualifying has been all year. Crashing out last week while leading the race really took a lot of wind out of the Grainger guys. "We're all trying to catch the No. 24 (Jack Sprague) in the points chase. He opened it up on us a little last week, but our guys are tough and are fighting back. Getting the pole won't get us any points, but I think that we'll have a good run tomorrow. Hopefully we can finish in front of him and try to catch him over the next few weeks."

RON HORNADAY No. 16 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet

"These NAPA guys are unbelievable! Steve Hmiel's here and betcha we changed front springs, right rear springs and swaybars 30 times today. I thought it'd be tight in qualifying. It was loose. "There's a lot more in there. It was just that this Superman Silverado was ready to turn as good as it did. I left a lot on the table up there in Turn 3. We're pretty happy with this new truck and we've found a lot of stuff that we've changed about the front end geometry."

DENNIS SETZER No. 1 Mopar Performance Dodge

"This Mopar Dodge has been fast since we unloaded this morning. We got the truck to the front in qualifying and I normally race good when I qualify up front. I like this race track. I had a problem near the end of the race last year and that really hurt us. We still got beat in qualifying today and tomorrow, we are ready to go to Victory Lane for the second week in a row. This team has a lot of momentum coming off of the win and we were able to carry that into qualifying today and hopefully into the race tomorrow."

RON BARFIELD No. 55 Icehouse Beer Ford

"It was a good lap for us. I was trying to get a good first lap and back up what we've done in practice today. On the second lap I tried to go a little bit harder and I got loose going into Turn 1. But we had a good qualifier and this Icehouse Beer team will be ready to race tomorrow. The track here at Nazareth is good. It's really got a lot of grip even though it is so hot. This is a big momentum deal for us. We've run very well all year but we've had some things happen to us. We seem to really be getting our program back together now. Chris Andrews (crew chief) has been doing a great job at stepping up to the plate."

STACY COMPTON No. 86 Royal Crown Cola Ford

"We have been strong in practice all day and I know this RC Dodge is a strong race truck. We tried to loosen up the truck for qualifying because we have been tight all morning. I think we might have loosened it up just a bit too much. We will get this taken care of and be ready to get to the front tomorrow."

JOE RUTTMAN No. 18 DANA Corporation Dodge

"The DANA Dodge has been good all day, we just got a little loose on the second lap. Otherwise I think the second lap would have been the fastest. I don't always qualify real well, but I had a lot of fun. I am happy with sixth and I think we are going to have a great race. Dodge will have a good run tomorrow having all of the trucks up front."

JIMMY HENSLEY No. 43 Dodge By Petty Dodge

"This was a little better than the practice laps that we ran this morning. I like this race track and Fred (Wanke) and I have been working on the truck and have gotten faster all day. We are happy with the lap and I think we will get to the front pretty quickly tomorrow."

JAY SAUTER No. 3 GM Goodwrench Service Plus Chevrolet

"It's tough for me to tell how good that run was because I've always struggled at this race track. The best lap I've ever run here was a 28.58 or something like that, so we're getting better. We'll take it. It was faster than we've run all day. I think it'll race good and we'll take what we've got now."

JACK SPRAGUE No. 24 GMAC Financial Services Chevrolet

"I don't know what happened. This truck is real good on old tires and this GMAC Chevrolet will be fine tomorrow."

TERRY COOK No. 88 Sealmaster Chevrolet

"I was disappointed with that time today. I thought we had a good, legitimate shot at the pole, we were second fastest in the final session and turned a good lap. It was too free in qualifying, just way too loose and we slid all over the track. I think it'll get us in the top 10. I think we'll have a good weekend here at Nazareth."
