Donny Lia returns to the SS Green Light Racing No. 07 this Friday night at the Nashville Superspeedway. The Nashville 200 will be the third start of the NCWTS season for the 2007 and 2009 Whelen Modified Series Champion.
The last outing for Donny was at Atlanta, where he qualified and finished sixteenth after a late tire problem dropped the New York native in the running order. Crew Chief Jason Miller and the SS Green Light team worked hard over the last month to improve the Chevy Silverado Lia will be driving this week and Miller expects a better finish at Nashville. "I think we have a very good piece for him this weekend. I really like the body on this truck, I believe the last time it was run was Iowa last year and it looked pretty good there."
"I know Donny's fired up for Nashville. We have been talking a lot about our goals for the year and where we want to go as a team," Miller said. "We caught a bad brake with the flat tire at the end of the Atlanta race and with a little better luck, I think we can show our potential this week."
Bobby Dotter, General Manager of SS Green Light Racing is upbeat about the team's trip to the Music City. "We have had some ups and downs to start the year and despite tearing up a couple of trucks at Daytona and Martinsville we have two trucks in the top-thirteen in owners points. That is a testament to the guys in our shops who have worked very hard as a group over the last couple months."
"I'm excited to get to Nashville, Jason and the 07 bunch have a very good truck ready for him and this just could be a breakout week for Donny."
Lia has one previous NCWTS start at the concrete 1.33-mile speedway, finishing on the lead lap in sixteenth place back in 2008.
The Nashville 200 will be Donny's 27th career NCWTS start.
