Hamilton Jr Racing With BHR this Weekend in Hometown
This weekend Bobby Hamilton Racing will field a fourth truck driven by Busch Series driver Bobby Hamilton Jr. The family connection extends beyond the father and son who will be racing for the Gibson guitar at their home track "their sponsors are also related. Bobby Jr.'s sponsor for the race will be Dayton, Ohio, based Hyde Park Electronics, the world leader in ultrasonic sensing technology and a subsidiary of Schneider Electric. Square D, Bobby Sr.'s sponsor, is the 100-year-old, market-leading brand of electrical distribution and industrial control products also part of the Schneider Electric brand family.
"Square D and Hyde Park have outstanding people and products that exceed customer needs and are winning in the marketplace," said Dave Petratis, President and CEO of Schneider Electric North American Operating Division. "And, like the Hamiltons, both are fierce competitors and proven performers. It's going to be an interesting battle on the track and we're confident that Schneider Electric will have a truck in Victory Lane "he question is, which one?
Racing with Dad: "We have done it once or twice before. I love any opportunity to race with my dad. Every time we race together it is a learning opportunity for me. BHR is running so strong this year and I feel honored to be a part of it for this weekend. I love the fact I can drive my dad's stuff and bring my Team Marines guys in to pit the car. It reminds me of the Saturday night racing so many of us are familiar with in Nashville. It is great for the fans, too. We have a great fan base in the Nashville area and this allows them to come out and support both Hamilton's at the same time. I am moving to the Nextel Cup Series next year and not sure how much my schedule will allow me to come back and race in Nashville; so I am going to savor every minute."
BHR: "This year Bobby Hamilton Racing has stepped up the game in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Dad has won four races and Chad has won two. Both have been in contention to win other races and constantly run in the top 10. That is added pressure for me. In the past, I have just jumped in the truck and qualified and then went out and had fun. I never really thought about where I finished. Now, I have to be competitive enough to run in the top five because that is where Dad and Chad are going to be. I am not worried about it because BHR is giving me a brand new truck and Arrington motors are always strong. Nashville is a strong track for Harold Holly and I; and my guys are going to do a great job on pit road. It is going to be a lot of fun."
* Hamilton Jr. has two NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series starts with Bobby Hamilton Racing.
* In 2001 he finished fourth in this event, the highest finishing BHR truck.
* Hamilton Jr. is racing a brand new truck which Hamilton Sr. is planning on running in Bristol in two weeks.
Homecoming: "What is so great about Nashville Superspeedway is that it has two grooves. It really gives you the ability to work with your truck's setup and provides some great passing. The tire that Goodyear brings adds a lot of grip and the trucks provide more grip with their aero package; joining the two together guarantees a great race. As a driver, it allows me to be more aggressive behind the wheel and that puts on a better show for the fans. It would be really neat to be in contention to win on Saturday night. I have always had great Busch cars here at Nashville, but something always happens. I just love racing at Nashville because it's home."
