Second generation racer Landon Huffman to make Truck debut
Landon Huffman will have his Camping World Truck Series coming out party at Bristol Motor Speedway in the UNOH 200 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Aug. 16th.
The 21-year-old son of five-time NASCAR champion Robert Huffman will drive for MB Motorsports in first national series start.
The elder Huffman, who currently serves as a truck chief in the Brad Keselowski Racing truck program, made a name for himself winning the NASCAR Goody’s Dash Series championship five times. He became the first driver to compete in a Toyota in a NASCAR national series.
Now, his son Landon is trying to do the same in his own way.
The team, owned by Mike Mittler, has made a history of offering young drivers their first opportunity in the NASCAR series including Carl Edwards and Jamie McMurray – just to name a few.
“We’re thrilled to have Landon in the #63 Chevy Silverado at Bristol,” said Mittler. “He’s done quite well for himself so far and we look forward to working with him. He’s worked very hard to get where he is today.”
Huffman, who is a marketing major at UNC-Charlotte, has been competing in Late Model Stock races throughout the Carolinas and Virginia this season and is coming off of a recent win at his home track – Hickory Motor Speedway.
“I cannot thank Mike and everyone at MB Motorsports enough for this opportunity,” said Huffman. “It is surreal to know that I will have a shot in a truck after working so hard these past four years. It is a dream come true and a day I thought might not ever come.”
In addition to his Late Model racing, Huffman made his ARCA debut in 2016, qualifying fourth at the Berlin Raceway.
“I can’t wait to get to the ‘The Last Great Coliseum’,” adds Huffman. “I will do my best to represent MB Motorsports and their sponsors, as I hope this is just the start of our working together.”
