MDM Motorsports penalized after Darrell Wallace Jr.'s Michigan win

The win by No. 99 MDM Motorsports team and Darrell “Bubba” Wallace in the LTi Printing 200 Camping World Truck Series at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday is encumbered following a L1 Penalty.

NASCAR inspectors discovered illegal vent holes in the No. 99 truck’s bed cover in post-race inspection. Crew chief Shane Huffman has been fined $5,000 and suspended from this weekend’s activities at Bristol Motor Speedway. The team has also been docked 10 owner points.

The sanctioning body discovered MDM’s truck was illegal under in the NASCAR Rulebook Section 20.4.1.2.b. Bed Cover, “Vent holes at the bed top must be configured for air intake only.”

The No. 98 ThorSport team had multiple infractions following Saturday’s race. An L1 penalty was assessed after the truck failed height measurements in post-race inspection per Section 20.17.3.2.1.2 Post-Race Front Body Inspection Heights. Grant Enfinger’s eighth-place finish is encumbered and crew chief Jeff Hensley was fined $5000 and suspended from this weekend’s activities at Bristol. The owner and driver were each docked 10 championship points.

The No. 98 team’s second penalty was a safety violations for improperly affixed weight — Section 20.17.2.1 Overall Vehicle Weight. Hensley and truck chief Josh Hankish have been suspended from the next two truck series races.
