Scott Hansen Track Notes The Milwaukee Mile - July 3, 1999
No. 52 Oakwood Homes Chevrolet Milwaukee Notes & Quotes
Family Affair: Scott Hansen's teenage daughters, Jodi and Amy, will be join him for a summer road trip starting this weekend in Milwaukee. The trio plans to travel by car to each of the upcoming NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events and visit various cities in between each event.
"My daughters live in Wisconsin and I live in North Carolina, so the summertime is the only time I get to spend a great deal of time with them," Hansen said. "They love going to the race track, but I want to make the time I spend with them as special and memorable as possible. I have mapped out our trip and I will let the girls pick where they want to stop and visit along the way. It is a great way to see the country and visit historical landmarks, but I'm sure the girls will want to visit all the fun places, like amusement parks."
Wisconsin Homecoming: Hansen was born in Green Bay, Wis. He has competed numerous times at The Milwaukee Mile and has three wins in the ASA series at the one-mile oval.
"The Milwaukee Mile is a special place to me for many reasons," Hansen said. "1989 was my rookie season in the ASA series and I won my first ASA race that year at Milwaukee. I am also expecting over 100 friends and family to come and watch the Oakwood Homes Racing team on Saturday, so I don't want to disappoint them. I hope to make it my first victory of the season."
Equipment: The Oakwood Homes Racing team is bringing a truck named "Elvis" to Milwaukee. The truck got his name because its first race was Memphis earlier this year. It also competed at Pikes Peak.
"I feel this truck is one of the best we have," crew chief Wally Brown said. "It ran extremely well at Pikes Peak earlier this year, although the finish doesn't reflect it. I know Scott really likes the way this truck handles and I want to give him every edge possible to win."
1998 Statistics: The Oakwood Homes Racing team started 10th and finished eighth in last year's race at The Milwaukee Mile. Scott Hansen also competed in this same event last year in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in the No. 15 truck. He started eighth and finished 24th.
