MILLER PREPARED TO DELIVER SOLID FINISH AT THE MILWAUKEE MILE
WEST ALLIS, Wis. (June 21, 2006) -- Joey Miller's goal this weekend at the Milwaukee Mile is to turn in his best finish of the season in the Toyota Tundra Milwaukee 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event. The No. 12 Curb Records Toyota Tundra driver posted a fifth-place finish at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway in May, which is the best finish this year by a Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender.
"Our best finish is fifth-place at a short track," said Miller. "I'm happy we are going to Milwaukee this weekend because it is a shorter flat track compared to some of the other places we've been to recently. I like the shorter tracks and I think we'll do well on Friday. This is a big race for all of the Toyota teams. Toyota is the title sponsor of the event and any time your manufacturer sponsors a race, you want to do exceptionally well. Between the two Darrell Waltrip Motorsports teams, we'd like to park one of our Toyota's in Victory Lane."
Miller has experienced success at the one-mile Wisconsin oval. Last year, the 21-year-old finished second in the ARCA RE/MAX Series event driving for Country Joe Racing.
"We qualified third and finished second at the Milwaukee Mile in the ARCA race," said Miller. "We had a good run there and we wanted to win badly, but we came up a little short. We had a right front flat tire and that hurt us some. Our goal this weekend is to do our best to get a solid finish in the No. 12 Curb Records Toyota Tundra."
Pulling out all the stops, Miller's Darrell Waltrip Motorsports team has opted to bring one of the trucks from teammate David Reutimann's stable.
"Our truck for Milwaukee is the same one that David ran at New Hampshire and a couple other short tracks last season," said Miller. "It's a pretty good truck and we're looking forward to running it at Milwaukee this weekend."
Live coverage of the Toyota Tundra Milwaukee 200 on Friday, June 23rd begins at 9 p.m. Eastern on SPEED Channel and MRN Radio.
