THE LACK OF CAUTIONS TONIGHT PLAYED INTO YOUR FAVOR AFTER AN EARLY PIT ROAD SPEEDING INCIDENT. "I don't understand that. I try to abide by the NASCAR rulebook as much as I can. We have a pit road speed and we set our tach to it on the pace lap, and I know I was six rows deep on the starting grid, but I knew they were watching pretty hard. I was right on the money, and I don't know, maybe I should have crept down pit road and went on out there. I don't think the penalty was that bad, but it cost us having to re-pit the Circle Bar Truck Corral Ford. And then they had a bunch of green flags and it sort of evened us out for a while. Kevin Starland made some adjustments and we just kept passing trucks all night long and I kept driving; that's where you finish."
CAN YOU EVER REMEMBER A RACE WHERE YOU FINISHED EIGHTH AND WERE ONE LAP DOWN? "Yeah, that happens sometimes, especially when you get some rabbits out there when you're waiting for an adjustment, they lap you early and then you can run as strong as they are in the back of the race. Roush-Yates horsepower under the hood did a good job and that's what allowed us to complete a lot of passes tonight. It was a good run for the guys, another top-10."
THERE HAVE BEEN A LOT OF CAUTIONS IN THIS YEAR'S RACES, BUT THERE WAS JUST ONE TONIGHT. "This ain't a bad race track, but I don't know what the problem is with it, but tonight there wasn't a lot of grip on it. It's a big, fast one-mile wide race track and it gives the guys a lot of room for competition and you might be able to get a slide-job on somebody or somebody might slide out of your way, but for the most part all of the passes were clean."
TODD KLUEVER-50-World Financial Group Ford F-150 (Finished 9th)
"It was a good run for us. We've struggled a lot lately, so a good, solid top-10 is nice. It was a good solid run all night and we get to go home and work on it a little bit. We were just tight all night, other than the driver about to overheat."
WERE YOU SURPRISED BY THE NUMBER OF CAUTIONS TONIGHT? "Absolutely surprised. I've never run that long under green-flag conditions, never in my entire life. A couple of cautions would have been nice just to bunch the field up. It would have given us a better shot at a top-five, but it is what it is."
HOW BAD WAS THE HEAT INSIDE THE COCKPIT OF THE TRUCK? "I'm actually on my way to the trailer to sit down for a while. It's hot. I worked hard tonight. A top-10 is pretty decent, but, obviously, I'd like to contend for a win at my home track."
TERRY COOK-10-Power Stroke Diesel by Int'l Ford F-150 (Finished 10th)
"That was not easy. It was hotter than hell out there tonight, and the Power Truck Diesel by Int'l Ford was just a little off tonight, but just like the guys said, 'On an off night, and as bad as we were, if we can turn that into a top-10, this is definitely a championship-caliber team.' It's not going to be your day everyday and we struggled to pass there, but we would work a bunch of guys for a long time and work our way up to 10th from 19th, so we'll take a top 10."
DO YOU THINK THE THREAT OF RAIN KEPT DRIVERS IN CHECK FOR THE FIRST HALF OF THE RACE? "I don't think so. I don't think the threat of rain had anything to do with it. Everybody was using their heads tonight. What a clean race. There was a little pushing and leaning on each other, but it was done Truck Series-style, and it wasn't move them out of the way, dump them and wreck them. It was just a good night of racing for the Craftsman Truck Series."
