Sears to sponsor NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at MIS.

BROOKLYN, Mich. -- Sears, a long-time supporter of NASCAR, and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series title sponsor since the series' inception in 1995, will be the title sponsor of the Sears 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Michigan International Speedway, officials at both companies announced today.

The Sears 200 on Saturday, July 26, will be part of the mid-season action at the two-mile superspeedway in Michigan's Irish Hills.

"At Craftsman we elect to sponsor races based on criteria which include the number of stores in a market as well as sales," said Toure Claiborne, Sears motorsports marketing manager. "Our greater Detroit network of Sears stores has been one of the strongest for Craftsman sales. With so many great Craftsman customers and race fans in the area, sponsoring the Sears 200 is a great way to give back to the fans who love Craftsman tools."

Sears will offer its customers a special promotion celebrating the Sears 200 at MIS. From June 29 through July 12, customers who make a Craftsman tool purchase at participating Sears stores will receive a game piece for a chance to win the ultimate racing experience -- hot laps around the Michigan International Speedway track during the Sears 200 race weekend. In addition to the hot laps, the grand prize winner will also receive behind the scenes access, four tickets to the Sears 200 and $100 for food and beverages at the track. There will also be 25 first prizes for two tickets to the Sears 200. See official rules in-store or visit www.craftsman.com.

"Sears, with their Craftsman brand, has helped mold the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series into the success that it is today," said MIS President Brett Shelton. "MIS is proud to have a partner like Sears that has supported racing for years. During their first three races at MIS, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series has provided plenty of door-to-door racing that we've come to expect from them. We're pleased that we've been able to offer our fans exciting racing at a great value at our historic facility with a partner like Sears."

The Sears 200 weekend at MIS is an event that will once again feature live music, carnival rides and a Corvette show in the MIS infield during the weekend, free with an admission ticket. Tickets for the Sears 200 are only $30, or fans can purchase a combination ticket for both Saturday and Sunday for just $50. The ticket includes the Saturday, July 26 Sears 200 along with the IRL IndyCar Series and the Infiniti Pro Series races on Sunday July 27.

"We are excited that Sears has announced plans to sponsor the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Michigan in July," said Terry Cook, Sylvania, Ohio native and driver of the K-Automotive No. 29 Powerstroke Diesel/Oil Mate Ford in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. "Of course, Sears is the parent company of our series sponsor, Craftsman Tools, which is the choice of tools for our race team. When you mix the two together, I can only imagine that the involvement from Sears will be as big as what they do for us all season long."

"Sears Craftsman has been with us since the inception of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and we are glad to see their involvement in sponsoring the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Michigan International Speedway this July," said K-Automotive team owner and Lake Orion, Michigan resident Bob Keselowski. "Sears Craftsman makes great tools and we've switched our whole shop over to Craftsman now. We are happy with what they offer up and the reliability of their product. We are certainly appreciative of their being behind our series from the very start and sponsoring the Michigan race is just another plus for us."

Seats still remain for all events at MIS this season, including the Sears 200. For ticket information, visit MIS' official website, www.MISpeedway.com, or call the MIS ticket hotline at (800) 354-1010.
