CARMICHAEL AT MICHIGAN: Ricky Carmichael will once again be donning his rookie stripe this weekend at Michigan International Speedway as the 15-time AMA Champion takes to the two-mile track for the first time in his career.
CARMICHAEL ON TRUCKS: After his Monster Energy Chevrolet took a hard hit at Texas Motor Speedway, Carmichael is fully recovered and ready to take on the competition in his first outing at Michigan. So far this season, Carmichael has scored one top-five (Dover) and two top-10 finishes (Atlanta and Martinsville) in the first seven races of the 2010 season.
CARMICHAEL ON COMPETING AT MICHGAN: "I've really been looking forward to coming to Michigan. Since I only ran a partial season last year, this is one of the tracks I didn't compete at, so I've obviously got a little bit of a learning curve coming in. We'll be taking advantage of every minute of practice time we can get so I can be comfortable and be prepared to lay down a solid qualifying run and, hopefully, finish really well."
BEHIND THE WHEEL: Crew chief Mike Fritts has chosen Turner Motorsports chassis No.8 for Carmichael to pilot at Michigan. Carmichael last wheeled this chassis to a 14th-place finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway, a sister track to Texas. Chassis No. 5 will serve as the team's back-up truck.
BET YOU DIDN'T KNOW: Carmichael raced with some of the biggest names in motorsports in this year's "Prelude to the Dream" at the famed Eldora Speedway. The 15-time AMA champion competed on a dirt track for the first time on four wheels with Team St. Jude's Children's Hospital in the Prelude and brought home a respectable 19th-place finish.
CARMICHAEL ON RACING IN THE PRELUDE: "I had so much fun racing in the Prelude and I just can't thank Tony Stewart enough for inviting me to take part. It was so cool to get out there with all of those guys and to do it all for a really good cause. I took a hard hit on the first lap and that knocked the toe in on the car so it was hard to keep up with the competition after that. The only bright side of my finish was that I won my bet with Pastrana!"
