TALK ABOUT YOUR FIRST NASCAR CRAFTSMAN TRUCK SERIES WIN AT MICHIGAN:
"We just had an impressive Silverado all weekend long. When we unloaded that thing was fast the first lap through the center of the corner. I could race all day wide open through turns three and four and we were pretty good through one and two all day. I am proud of all these guys and the effort they put out. Eric came on board and brought these guys to another level. Our stops have been just getting better and better on this Morgan Dollar Motorsports team. Just a pretty awesome truck today. I have never driven a truck that fast through the corners.
DO YOU THINK YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO KEEP THE LEAD IF THE CAUTION HADN'T COME OUT?
"There probably been trouble if I hadn't kept the lead. I don't think I would have come back if I wouldn't have kept the lead. That truck was fast."
WHAT WAS YOUR APPROACH WHEN THAT FINAL GREEN FLEW?
"I didn't even know that Ted blew up until I got to the end of the straight. Until my spotter told me, I hadn't even looked in my mirror until my spotter told me what happened behind me. My spotter was telling me who was looking high and who was looking low. If I would have had to, I would have let him under me because I think I could have got back around him on topside through the center of the corner. If he went all the way to the bottom. I kinda had a plan going if it went green. I knew how good I was in three and four and I felt like I could get two or three truck lengths at that end and all he could do was catch back up on the straightaway. It is fun to drive a truck like that."
ERIC PHILLIPS, NO. 46CHEVROLET Z71 SILVERADO CREW CHIEF:
"We knew when we unloaded we had a real good truck. I had a great race here last when I won, so this is pretty special too. Our truck was best on real long runs. We knew we didn't have a shot at the pole, but I knew we were going to be good on really long runs. The cautions didn't quite fall in our favor. When the caution flew on lap 66, I told Dennis we were in the catbird seat then because the No. 15 and a couple others could really go on new tires but we were just so much better than them on long runs. My win here last year was my first as a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series crew chief so it will always be special but this one equals that because we won for Chevrolet here in their own back yard and it is there first ever truck win here at Michigan."
