Chad On Michigan:
For the second week in a row, Chad is coming off a disappointing finish after coming home 23rd last week at the Texas Motor Speedway.
"Michigan is a track that I have had pretty good success at in the Craftsman Truck Series. It is a wide fast track that requires a lot of horsepower and a good aero package on your truck. TRD gives us awesome horsepower for our Tundra and our aero package has proven to be good on these speedway tracks. Due to this strong package, we have been fast at the larger tracks we have been at so far this year and I expect the same this week when we unload our No. 30 Toyota."
"We will be taking the same truck that we had last week at Texas and that thing was just awesome until we ran into some bad luck. As the case has been most of the year, if we stay out of harms way then we will be a strong contender for the win this weekend in Michigan."
Michigan Site Of First Win For Toyota:
Michigan International Speedway was the magical place for the Toyota camp last season as the manufacturer earned its first series victory in this event last season.
"It has been great working with the Toyota folks this season and representing them as we go to each track. Obviously, Michigan holds some special significance for the TRD organization and I would love to be the one to bring them their first victory of this season at the site of their inaugural Craftsman Truck Series triumph. My team gives me a strong Tundra each week and we are very capable of bringing them a victory at Michigan for the second year in a row -- that would be very cool."
Chad On Father's Day & Racing:
Chad Chaffin is a second generation racer with his father racing in the Nashville area when Chad was growing up. Chad's wife's (Cindy) family was heavily involved in the sport as well.
"My dad was one heck of a race car driver and won several championships along the way. He raced primarily the mini-stocks and even raced a little in the series that eventually grew into the Goody's Dash Series. Once I started racing it became hard for him to have both of us involved so he quit racing so he could concentrate on my racing career. That is the ultimate sacrifice that I will never forget and am so grateful to him for doing that. He gets to come to a handful of races each year and it is always nice to have him there. So not only would it be awesome to win for Toyota this weekend in Michigan -- it would have extra special meaning to take that trophy back to Nashville for Father's Day."
Career at Michigan:
Chad will be making his fourth career start at the Michigan International Speedway. He has one career start at the track in the NASCAR Busch Series and two previous starts in the Craftsman Truck Series. He has a best finish of third at the 2-mile oval track in the 2003 Craftsman Truck Series event as well as an 11th place finish last season.
