MOORSEVILLE, N.C. (June 7, 2010) - Michigan International Speedway (MIS) appears to be a perfect venue for Aric Almirola to narrow the 65 point gap between himself and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points leader Todd Bodine. Almirola's No. 51 Graceway Pharmaceuticals/Zyclara team has finished in the top-seven in its three previous events at MIS, including two second-place finishes (Kyle Busch, 2007 and 2009).
Almirola has been a picture of consistency this season. He has finished 12th or better in each of the eight events. On top of that, at every venue that Almirola has traveled to in 2010, he has driven to a career-best NCWTS finish for that track. He aims to keep his streak going in this week's VFW 200.
Almirola on the VFW 200 at Michigan International Speedway:
"At Michigan, the straightaways are really long. The track is incredibly wide. Drafting is really important there. Not only do you have to have a good handling truck, but it has to draft well. So, there's a lot of different things that we do as a team to get ready for Michigan.
"The 51 team has a great track record at Michigan. They've finished second there a couple of times. It's a track that really plays into Billy Ballew Motorsports' strengths. Good aero packages and horsepower are a must. We've done pretty well in those areas this year, so I'm feeling confident heading into the weekend.
"I'm looking forward to going to Michigan for a couple of reasons. I think it's going to be a great race for us, but also because my fiance Janice is from there. It's like a third home race for me. Charlotte's home for me, Daytona's home for me and then we get to go to Michigan and see her family. It's a lot of fun to go to Michigan."
