MEMPHIS, Tenn. (May 8, 1999) Quotes from selected drivers following Saturday's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Memphis 200 at Memphis Motorsports Park:
GREG BIFFLE No. 50 Grainger Racing Ford "I don't know what to say. Every time that I came into the pits, I went back out No. 1. The Grainger Ford was just awesome today. We got a monkey off our backs. I have to thank all the people that gave me the opportunity, Benny Parsons, Jack Roush and all the guys and Grainger, too. The guys did a great job today. I couldn't have done it without them."
KEVIN HARVICK No. 98 Porter-Cable Power Tools Ford "We probably needed some left side tires but that is the way it goes. We made the call and we have to live with it. It was a good day for the Porter-Cable Ford. We had a hometown crowd here today and we gave them a good show.
"We gained a lot of points back. We dug ourselves a hole in the first two races and now we're gaining them back. Four top-10 finishes in a row - we can't complain. We'll get us a win here pretty soon. We're real close today but it just got away from us at the end. That's good, competitive truck series racing."
JAY SAUTER No. 3 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet "We had a good truck today on long runs. It didn't go good on the restarts. I just couldn't get any grip on restarts. After about five to seven laps she started to come in for me and she'd take off and really run. It was just that our short run setup wasn't too good.
"Some of those early restarts were pretty wild with guys three- and four-wide. We got pushed up into the 'luneberries' a number of times. We had a good Silverado truck today. We'll take it and get on to Colorado. We needed a jump start and we got it here today."
STACY COMPTON No. 86 RC Dodge "Kevin Cram and this team kept digging today and Joey Arrington horsepower kept us coming through the pack. We had a great qualifying setup and a great race setup, but when the sun came out we got a little loose and that hurt us. The guys kept adjusting on the truck and we just moved up and gained track position. If we would have had more green-flag runs, I think we would have moved to the front faster."
DENNIS SETZER No. 1 Mopar Peformance Dodge "I guess we had a good day at Memphis. I just didn't have the truck set up the way that I needed all day. We kept having to come from behind and these Mopar guys did a great job in the pits. We got hung up on pit road and that cost us some track position. We missed a little something today, but we will be better when we come back."
RON HORNADAY No. 16 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet "We got two laps down and got them back but that's Memphis for me. I had a good truck but I don't know if I started with low pressure or cut a sidewall or whatever. Maybe the brake duct cut it. I don't know. I'm pretty happy. We beat that Chevy up and it still wanted to go forward."
ANDY HOUSTON No. 60 Cat Rental Stores Chevrolet "We had a pretty decent day. The pit crew did an awesome job. I've told them at the beginning of the year that if they gave me five positions in the pit I'd buy their lunch on Monday. So this Monday I'll definitely be buying their lunch and it's been a while."
BUTCH MILLER No. 18 DANA Dodge "I'm proud of the boys. The team brought this truck to 10th today. We just kept getting better each week. We learned again and we know what to bring back next year."
