Kinser Poised For Second Career Start at Memphis
STATESVILLE, NC -- When the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) arrives in the land of Elvis, Kraig Kinser will have one thing on his mind: continuing his string of momentum-building runs with a strong showing at the Memphis Motorsports Park (MMP).
Kinser was well on his way to a top-10 finish at the Milwaukee Mile last week, but the caution flag flew following his green flag pit stop, catching the No. 47 Ginn Resorts team two laps down. The Bloomington, IN native is determined to return to MMP and show what he knows he and his team are capable of.
"Memphis is a track that I am looking forward to heading back to this year," Kinser said. "It is so unique, and there is really no other place like it. There are little bumps all over the track, and it makes for some fun, exciting racing for the drivers and the fans. It is also usually extremely hot when we head to Memphis, but from what I have seen, the weather looks like it is going to be pretty cool, for Memphis anyways. I am just looking forward to getting to Memphis and get to a track that I have been to before, and we can jump right into the practices and get our Ginn Resorts Silverado tuned up and ready for the race. The past few weeks, the guys have been really upbeat and having some encouraging runs at Texas, Michigan, and Milwaukee have helped boost all of our confidence, and I am looking to have another strong showing at Memphis."
Morgan-Dollar Motorsports (MDM) team owner David Dollar is also ready to brave the heat on and off the track in Memphis. Following a dominating performance in 2006 with Dennis Setzer that left the team wondering what might have been, Dollar is ready to get back to MMP, where his team posted a victory in 2001 after leading ¼ of the race.
"I think the whole team is ready to get to Memphis," Dollar stated. "Kraig has been doing a great job in the truck the past few weeks, and getting the consistency is what we need to do. Kraig's confidence is up, and that gives the guys on the team an extra boost also. After winning the race there in 2001 and then having a pit road mishap last year while leading, we are ready to get back there and take home another strong finish."
