Ron Hornaday, Jr. Captures Sixth Top-Five of Season at Memphis, Gains in Points Chase
Millington, TN - Ron Hornaday, Jr., No. 33 Camping World Silverado, started second and finished third in the O'Reilly 200 at Memphis Motorsports Park, the sixth top-five including two wins for the two-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) champion.
Hornaday led twice on the night for a total of 56 laps in the 200-lap/150-mile race. The solid run by the Kevin Harvick, Inc. Team Chevy driver puts him just 103 points behind the leader.
Matt Crafton, No. 88 Menards/Sylvania Silverado, finished tenth after starting 20th in the 36-truck field giving Team Chevy Silverado two top-10 finishers.
Chevrolet remains second in the NCTS manufacturers' point standings.
Round 13 of the 25-race NCTS season will be July 14, 2007 at Kentucky Speedway, Sparta, KY.
MATT CRAFTON, NO. 88 MENARDS SILVERADO, QUALIFIED 20TH, FINISHED 10TH:
"We started 20th, worked our way to the top-10, sped down pit road and went to the back. Got back to the top-10, got hung out and went all the way back to 23rd they said and drove back to the top-10. The guys gave me an awesome truck, just disappointed. It was my fault down pit road. I think they told me I was one one-hundreth over. Had a really good truck on long runs. Wish we could have been up there fighting for the win."
BILL LESTER, NO. 15 CHRISTIAN DEBT CONSOLIDATIONS SILVERADO, QUALIFIED 5TH, FINISHED 12th:
"We'll take it - I really would like to have brought home our first top-10 of the season tonight but I gave it all we had. This No. 15 Christian Debt Consolidation Chevy Silverado was quick. Our pit stops were pretty good and track position is key here so we were lucky to be upfront most of the night. I'm not known as a short track racer but we are getting there. Doug George (crew chief) made some great calls in the pits on the adjustments. This Billy Ballew Motorsports Team has worked so hard and it's nice to start to show off some of the hard work."
TIM SAUTER, NO. 07 LESTER BUILDINGS SILVERADO, QUALFIED 16TH, FINISHED 11TH:
"We had a really good truck. We were probably one of the fastest ones out there. Pit stops really hurt us tonight so we have to get that part of our program turned around and complete our package. It was a good run, we passed a lot of trucks. We will take it. This is our best finish going so we have some momentum going. We will just take a little at a time."
ARIC ALMIROLA, NO. 51 FEDEX EXPRESS SILVERADO, QUALIFIED 18TH, FINISHED 17TH:
"The truck just wasn't where we needed it tonight; we had had some bad pit stops that kept us from gaining anything in the pits. We figured we didn't have anything to loose and were going to stop and take on fresh tires on that last caution but they said it was a quickie yellow so we opted to stay out - then they called it off so we were a little disappointed with that. We had a great weekend in this No. 51 FedEx Express Billy Ballew Motorsports Chevy Silverado."
