Shige comments on racing ON HIS FIRST SHORT TRACK - MARtinsville Speedway:

"We have been testing a lot to get me ready for Martinsville. We tested at Martinsville last week and it was basically a good test. I'm going to have a lot of firsts this season in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and this is another. I have never driven on a short track. It is so different. I learned a lot from testing for two days there. Tom, my crew chief and my teammate Chad Chaffin were so helpful. Chad has a lot of experience on small tracks. I'm an open wheel guy where Chad is a short track guy and him sharing his knowledge will really be helpful for the race."

"Friday we tested at Caraway. Mike Skinner was there and he helped me develop my line on the track. He said -Shige you should change to this line. Then - ok Shige following me for a couple laps and I did and learned a lot. I am definitely so impressed with how friendly all the drivers are. Mike is a Toyota Tundra driver but is from a different race team. Mike said Shige this is totally different then Daytona, Atlanta and California. He spent time watching me make my laps and offered so many suggestions. I am so thankful to be able to race in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with guys that are just so nice. We are competitors on the track but everyone just wants to help each other."

"I was in Martinsville last year to watch the truck race- there were a lot of accidents. I've raced at Richmond in the IRL which is a smaller track but we ran flat out there and didn't have to use the brakes -- in the truck you have to use the breaks."

"The crew has really put together a great truck. I may not have any experience on the short tracks but with all the testing and help I received I think we'll be just fine. I'm looking forward to the race. I just want to keep the nose clean and bring home a great finish in the No. 9 AISIN/AISIN AW Germain/Arnold Racing Toyota Tundra."
