Martinsville, VA---Tickets for the NAPA 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway on Saturday, April 8 are now on sale. The Craftsman Truck Series will share the weekend with the NASCAR Winston Cup Series that will run in the Goody’s Body Pain 500 on Sunday, April 9. It will be the sixth appearance for the Craftsman Trucks at Martinsville Speedway. Fans can expect plenty of fender-banging action in the NAPA 250 if the Truck Series’ history at Martinsville is any indication. Joe Ruttman won the inaugural Truck race in 1995 after driving past a spinning Geoffrey Bodine and Mike Skinner in turn four with two laps to go. Skinner led the first 134 laps and Bodine led 14 laps before their wreck. The race had nine cautions for 45 laps. In 1996, the tailgate party was so wild--a series record 15 caution flags for 70 laps--that it was extended by a late caution for five laps so that it could finish under the green flag. The 1997 race was extended for six laps before Rich Bickle took the win. Jay Sauter won the 1998 NAPA 250 on a grueling hot day with Jimmy Hensley finishing second. The 1999 race was especially exciting for local fans as Hensley, from nearby Ridgeway, Va., won the race with Stacy Compton of Hurt, Va. finishing second. After the race, Hensley stopped on the finish line, got out of his truck and waved to the wildly cheering crowd. Bud Pole qualifying for the NAPA 250 is 1:40 p.m. on Friday, April 7 immediately followed by Goody’s Body Pain 500 time trials at 3 p.m. Tickets for the NAPA 250 Truck race are $30. Tickets for children ages 6-12 are $5. There also still are plenty of excellent tower seats remaining for the Goody’s Body Pain 500. Tickets can be purchased for both races by calling toll free at 1-877-RACE-TIX. For more information about tickets and the events visit www.martinsvillespeedway.com. The NAPA 250 starts at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 8 and the Goody’s Body Pain 500 begins at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 9.
