FONTAINE GAINS 19 POSITIONS IN THE KROGER 200
Chris Fontaine drove the #84 Glenden Enterprises NCWTS truck from a 36th place starting spot all the way to 17th in the Kroger 200 at Martinsville Speedway last Saturday.
Fontaine had qualified the truck in the 29th position, but had to go to the back for the race start after NASCAR imposed an impound infraction on the CFI team.
The finish moved him up two spots to 27th in the NCWTS driver points and he is 31st in owner points.
He improved over his last run at the track. During the spring race at Martinsville this year, he started 36th and finished 20th.
This was the eighth and final NCWTS race for the CFI team's inaugural 2009 season.
Fontaine's best start of the season was 21st at Memphis, and his best finish was 13th at Gateway.
The team posted three top 15's and five top 20's out of the eight NCWTS races they ran.
"We have put all of our hearts into this season. It's time to sit down, reflect, and plan for 2010. We hope to have a full sponsor come through which will ensure we can race the full season. I will continue to race late model and dirt track in Florida to stay in the driver's seat," Fontaine said of the team's first NCWTS season.
"I want to give a special thanks to my crew members. They all have worked extremely hard this race season to learn NASCAR, excel above the standards and come ready to do what ever it took to make the truck ready to race. They are an amazing group of men," he said.
