Chad Chaffin ready to race on Martinsville's new surface

New Surface: "Things are a little different as we head back to Martinsville to race again. They have resurfaced the track since we were last there because it came apart during the Nextel Cup race. I really liked the track before they did the resurfacing. It was kind of rough and challenging to drive. I had some solid finishes on the old surface, but according to people who have tested there, they said it was the right decision to resurface the track. Everyone has had positive things to say about it. I know Bobby has checked on it and has a pretty good idea of how the trucks are going to run on the track. We are prepared that the setup may be different than in the past years, but I'm sure we can adjust. This team is capable of doing that, so we will be just fine. I expect based on my previous experiences in Martinsville to come out of there with a top 10 finish."

Top Five in Points: "The battle for fifth place in the points championship is so tight. The Dickies Racing Team sits 27 points out of fifth right now with only four races to go. I, as well as my team, really want to finish in the top five. I'm proud of the guys and how hard they have worked to get us to this point, but we can't let up now. We have to keep digging. Right now we are not really points racing, or racing conservative as people might say, because we are still trying to gain positions in the points race. The best way to gain spots is to win races or run in the top five. That is still our focus every weekend. It is important for us to stay focused and keep finishing races. We have to stay out of trouble and harm's way. My main goal is to not lose anymore spots in the points. The final four tracks are good, not only for the Dickies Dodge, but also for the whole BHR organization. Hopefully, we can get momentum back on our side and end this season on a positive note."

Notes:

* Chad is racing Butthead this weekend at Martinsville.

* He has three top-five finishes including a win at IRP in this particular truck.

* Chaffin qualified on the outside pole and finished 10th at Martinsville Speedway earlier this season.

Martinsville Preview: "I am excited about getting back to short-track racing. The past few weeks we have been racing on bigger tracks. Earlier this year I said I enjoyed racing on bigger tracks more than shorter ones, but these past few weeks the Dickies Dodge has not run well on big tracks. The truck we are taking this weekend is the one a proven winner. I won earlier this year with it at IRP so I know it can run well. Martinsville is a good track for me. I had a great run in the spring by qualifying on the front row and finishing in the top 10. That is the kind of finish we need to get back to. Martinsville is an interesting track to drive. It's a finesse track, you can't attack it. You have to be easy on your tires, your brakes and the throttle. So when everything is right, it's easy to drive. When it is not right, it is hard to have finesse when you are behind and trying to catch up."
