Butch Miller to Enter UAW/GM Ohio 250 Craftsman Truck Race at Mansfield
SS Racing president Ken Smith announced today that three-time ASA champion Butch Miller will pilot a No. 07 ditech.com Chevrolet Silverado in the May 15 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Mansfield (Ohio) Speedway.
Miller will be getting back into the driver's seat after spending most of the off-season and start of this year supporting SS Racing's Driver Development Program. SS Racing currently fields two full-time teams in both the ASL and ASA Late Model Series for Jarit Johnson and Hendrick Motorsports development driver Chase Austin.
Last week Miller performed for the first time as crew chief for the up-and-coming Johnson in the ASL Series. Although he's enjoying working as a crew chief he's anxious to get back where he's most comfortable in racing -- as the driver.
"I'm having a lot of fun working with these tremendously talented young drivers," Miller said. "But I still feel I can be a competitive driver myself and I cannot tell you how excited I am to be back in the Craftsman Truck Series. This has always been great racing."
Miller will be making his 111th career start in the Craftsman Truck Series, where he's compiled one win, 23 top-fives and 50 top-10s. Miller has more than 400 various series wins in his legendary career. At Mansfield, a track known to be difficult, his experience is sure to make him a contender for the win.
