David Starr Set For A New Challenge

Looking forward to the challenge of a new track, David Starr and the Spears Manufacturing crew head for Mansfield, Ohio and the inaugural UAW/GM 250, Round 4 of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Sunday, May 16.

"I really am excited about running at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway," says Starr. "First of all I always like the challenge of a new track. Everyone is pretty much on an equal playing field, which means no one has the home court advantage. We all have the same amount of time to practice and get our trucks dialed in. We tested our Spears Chevy a couple of weeks ago and were pleased with the results. I think once we do the final shake down, we'll be good to go."

Located between Columbus and Cleveland, the Mansfield area has long been known as a hot bed of road racing activity. In fact, this is the first time in 50 years that there has been a NASCAR event in the entire state.

"Being the first NASCAR event to happen in the state in that long is pretty awesome," continues Starr. "It a great piece of history for the Craftsman Truck Series and I am really pleased to be part of it."

This event marks the second short track race of the season. In fact the last race was also a short track. "We ran pretty well at Martinsville," says Starr, who earned a top ten finish. "We gained some points and hope to do the same at Mansfield. My roots are in short track racing so it is definitely close to my heart. Plus, it is an incredible show for the fans. It is non-stop action from beginning to end and you have to be up on the wheel every second. I think this one is going to be really good." Page 2

Running for 250 laps/125 miles, drivers will take to the track on Friday, qualify on Saturday, May 15 at 4PM and take the Green Flag on Sunday at 2PM. Coverage will be live on Speed starting at 2PM ET.
