Hamilton Tells Nextel Cup Drivers to Race With Us!
Naming Trucks: "I'm not a big fan of naming the trucks, but I understand it gives the race fans something to go by when watching us on television. I just don't use the names to refer to my trucks in the race shop. Usually I call them by where I raced them last, like my Richmond truck, etc. But my team really puts a lot of thought into what they want to name the trucks. They think up several names and then vote on them. Every now and then I will think up something and throw it in the mix. For instance, Beavis is named after the television show Beavis and Butthead. There are several of us on the team, including myself, that our favorite show is that one. So we thought it was fitting to name one of our trucks after our favorite characters. We have the sister, or should I say brother, truck to Beavis and named it Butthead. Chad (Chaffin) actually has that truck now and has won with it this year (Indianapolis). There are quirky things that race teams do to name their trucks, but for the most part we are pretty simple with our naming process - just like our race team."
Jim Harris Alliance Team: "We've decided to form an alliance team with Jim Harris and the No. 59 Harris Trucking Dodge. I am heading up this project at the BHR race shop in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. Jim and I are working very closely together to get his program turned back around in the points championship this season. He's sent me a few crew members and all of his trucks. We are looking them over and changing several things on them. Our goal is to have strong finishes the rest of this season and get this truck higher in the points. This weekend Andy Houston has been named as the driver for the truck and we are looking into future races with him or others to be named at a later date. In turn this will help our current program at BHR. We can use their truck for test feedback and engineering things we want to try. We'll take it one race at a time and make this best for everyone involved."
* The truck Hamilton is racing in Loudon is nicknamed Beavis. He has raced it four times this season finishing in the top 10 three times.
* Hamilton is still the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points leader over Dennis Setzer by 57 points.
Nextel Cup Drivers Racing Trucks: "It doesn't bother me at all when Nextel Cup drivers come over to the Craftsman Truck Series and race. The more the merrier to me. It is good for business. The more exposure we get the better off the series as a whole is. If the series is prospering, then that means my team is as well. We are the up and coming series out of the three running right now. With all the hype about the Nextel Cup Championship battle and the top 10 in points taking all the media attention right now, it helps bring some more exposure to the Craftsman Truck Series when they race in it. In turn it helps the teams that are there each weekend get more exposure."
