Timothy Peters Discusses Big Track Mentality
Viva Las Vegas: "I am really looking forward to going to Las Vegas and having some fun but also concentrating at the job at hand. I went to Las Vegas in 2001 for a test and I really enjoyed the city although I wasn't even old enough to participate in some of the activities. I guess you could say this is the first time I have been there when I was of age. This is the first time that I can go and enjoy some of the night life. Las Vegas is a different city, one of a kind and I am going to enjoy it while I am there."
Las Vegas Motor Speedway: "I really like Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It is a really smooth racetrack. Having gone there once and tested you tend to rethink your approach to certain tracks, you think about doing things a little differently. I can remember it like yesterday and I will probably alter my approach a little bit."
Big Track Mentality: 'When I first started out I was used to running short tracks but now that I have run most of the year in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series I have adapted somewhat to the bigger faster mile and a half race tracks like Las Vegas. I am proud of the way we have run at Charlotte and Texas. We had some good runs going at those places so I like these big fast race tracks. Las Vegas reminds me a little bit like Nashville as far as the configuration and we had a great truck at Nashville so that gives us a good reason to look forward to this weekend."
* Timothy Peters will make his 13th career NCTS start in the Las Vegas 350.
* Peters registered his best NCTS finish at Dover on June 4th coming home in the sixth position.
* Peters is currently 2nd in the NCTS Raybestos Rookie of the Year chase, 79 points behind Todd Kluever.
* Peters will pilot the BHR chassis "Rocket" this weekend at Las Vegas. It will be "Rocket's" eighth NCTS start. The chassis ran at Charlotte, Kentucky, Memphis, IRP, Nashville, Bristol and Richmond with Peters behind the wheel.
Crew Chief Randy Seals on Las Vegas-The city: "Las Vegas is a great city. It can be whatever you want it to be. It is also a great city to take your family. There are some cool places like Hoover Dam, Lake Mead and the Grand Canyon that are easily accessible. Las Vegas is just a great town."
Crew Chief Randy Seals on Las Vegas-The racetrack: "I love that racetrack. >From a crew chief's point of view it is a fun racetrack to compete on because you can tune on the truck so many ways. It is a smooth racetrack so you can get a lot more aggressive with your set ups. You can work with body angle and utilize a lot of different things to coax some speed out of your truck."
