DAVID STARR, NO. 75 SPEARS MANUFACTURING SILVERADO, QUALIFIED 8TH, FINISHED 3RD:
"This was a great run for our Spears Chevy Silverado. We were pretty tight but Dave (McCarty, crew chief) and the guys made some adjustments and we got pretty good there at the end. We had loosened the truck up for qualifying and that was the right thing for us to do. We probably could have loosened it a little more and been good in the race but we would have sacrificed something there for the race. But I am pretty happy how we ran and finished tonight.
"I had a heck of a show in front of me watching Ted (Musgrave, second place finisher) and Todd (Bodine, race winner). It was a great move Todd made there on the last lap to get the win. I was hoping it would give Jack (Sprague) and I a little opportunity to make a run at them, but they were clearly the class of the field.
"Jack is my GM Racing Silverado team mate but we race each other hard. I got by him on the start of the green white checkered but then he got a great run into one on the white flag lap and got back by me. He slid up the track a little bit in three and I was able to get up under him and we came out of four side by side. We got ahead by a nose to get third.
"We have had some rough the last few races and have been I n a little bit of a slump so this race, to run this hard all race, in the top-10 then the top-five is good. Being here in Vegas is close to Wayne and Connie Spear's home of LA, California so there are a lot of friends and family here. It is good to have a strong run and finish for them."
