LAS VEGAS - NASCAR fans attending The Orleans 350 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday Oct. 14 won't have to miss a minute of the NASCAR Winston Cup Series event on the same day.
Track officials have established a 3 p.m. (Pacific Time) start for The Orleans 350. That day's NASCAR Winston Cup event in Martinsville, Va., will start at 10 a.m. (PT).
Night racing will return to the superspeedway on Saturday, Oct. 13 with the running of a 100-mile NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series event and a 100-lap NASCAR Winston West Series event. The Southwest Series race will start at 6:30 p.m. and the Winston West race will follow.
"We believe these starting times are the most convenient for all of our race fans," said Chris Powell, LVMS executive vice president and general manager. "We know that NASCAR fans like to watch Winston Cup on Sunday, so we established the late start for Sunday so fans wouldn't have to make a choice.
"The decision to run the Saturday races at night is an extension of our weekly racing program. Our local fans are used to Saturday night racing at the Bullring. It just seems that there is an extra sense of excitement when you're racing at night."
Qualifying for all three events will be held on Oct. 13. NASCAR Winston West qualifying begins at 10:40 a.m., the Southwest Series qualifies at 12:30 p.m. and qualifying for The Orleans 350 gets underway at 4 p.m.
Tickets are on sale for all three events. Fans can call the speedway at 1-800-644-4444 or log on to www.lvms.com for tickets and information.
