LAS VEGAS, NV (October 13, 2002) - Jason Leffler steered the No. 2 Team ASE/CARQUEST Dodge to a solid fifth-place finish in the Las Vegas 350 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Sunday. The Top-5 effort was the ninth of the 2002 NCTS season for the Long Beach, CA driver and the first since a second-place effort August 2 at Indianapolis (IN) Raceway Park.

"It felt good to be in contention again," said Leffler, who also moved to fifth in the 2002 NCTS season championship standings. "We were off just a little all day and that kept us from getting an even better finish than we did. Overall, it was a good run for us. We got a Top-5 and gained in the points. You have to consider that a good day."

Leffler started seventh in the 36-truck field and hung with the lead group for most of the race. Pit stops on Lap 55 and 90 pushed Leffler back in the field only to have the 27-year-old driver fight his way back towards the front.

"We were just a tick off at the end of the race," said Leffler. "We'll just have to go back and do our homework for these final three races and try to get a win for this ASE/CARQUEST Dodge team."

Leffler grabbed $13,400 for the Las Vegas finish and is now over $335,000 in earnings for the season. His 2701 points are just 52 out of fourth place and 72 out of third.

Next up for Leffler and the Team ASE/CARQUEST Dodge will be the American Racing Wheels 200 at California Speedway. The event will take the green flag Saturday, November 2 at 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The 20th race of the 2002 NCTS tour will be broadcast live on MRN Radio nationwide and telecast on a tape-delayed basis, Sunday, November 3 at 5 p.m. Eastern on ESPN.
