Kansas City, Kansas (June 28, 2006) - Rookie Robert Richardson rolls into Kansas for his first laps around the revered 1.5 mile Speedway for the running of the O'Reilly Auto Parts 250 Saturday, July 1, 2006. Richardson, who is having many firsts this season at the different tracks that the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series visits, continues to improve his confidence behind the wheel.
"We've had an up and down season so far," Robert Richardson said. "We knew when we started this year that it would take some time and that we needed to be patient to have it pay off. We've made big strides in and out of the race truck over the last few weeks. The relationship the crew and I are building has really improved my confidence in the truck which has helped our performance on the track."
Seat time behind the wheel of the truck has been the primary focus for the young rookie and his No. 1 WinYourMortgage.com Chevrolet Silverado team. Richardson uses practice time to learn the track and concentrate on building a comfort level and consistency in his laps.
"The practice sessions really help out at these tracks I haven't run on before," Richardson said. "Joe (Hudson), my spotter and Kevin (Caldwell, crew chief) try to clear me right out of the box to run with a veteran so I can get my line down right away. They both have been great motivators. The addition of the Rookie Practice session has been beneficial. It enables us to get the line we learned down without a lot of traffic on the track. I'm really excited about running at Kansas Speedway -- I've heard it is a fast tri-oval that is easy to pass on so hopefully we'll get a good start and bring home a solid finish for this WinYourMortgage.com team."
