Jason White has Solid Finish at Kansas; Turn-Around Race for #08 GunBroker.com Team
Jason White started 29th and piloted the #08 GunBroker.com Dodge to a second career best finish of 15th on Saturday for the O'Reilly Auto Parts 250 at Kansas Speedway. The team has come close to top fifteen and even top ten finishes before, but luck has not gone their way. This time through good pit stops, smart strategy and heads up driving it all came together well and the team had a turn-around event. From practice to qualifying and then the race the team made the right calls on setup and improved each time they hit the track.
"It was great to finally have a solid run," said White. "We haven't been showing as good as we know we are the first part of this season. We knew we needed a good race to turn around our momentum and get us going in the right direction. Having a solid run in Kansas hopefully has us on the right track and gives us good momentum heading into Charlotte."
"I have to thank this GunBroker.com crew for their continued faith in me and their never ending hard work," added White.
Marketing director and team spotter, Dwayne Gaulding was also pleased with the turn-around race. "It's still a new team for all of us and we have been building and learning, so we've kept realistic expectations for the start of the season," said Gaulding. "We know this team is capable of finishing very well. It just hadn't come together in the first four races. Having a good finish in Kansas is a result of always looking for ways to improve and learning from race to race. It showed that we never give up and never get down. We have to keep developing and build on the momentum."
Team co-owner Bobby Dotter was also pleased with the performance of his team and the owner points that were gained. "I was really impressed with the team this weekend," said Dotter. "The guys improved all throughout the event and made some great race day decisions, which resulted in a solid finish and 5 positions in the points chase."
White moved from 30th place in owners points up to 25th. He's now 21st in the driver point's championship chase.
