WHAT PUT YOU BEHIND THE WALL TODAY?

"I guess our Allan Vigil engine blew up. The Circle Bar Motel & RV Park F-150, that's the first engine trouble that we've had in two-and-a-half years. It just came at a bad time, though. We'll get back in this points race and get the championship, and if we can't, we're just going to race them hard. I'm sure we'll be back at front in Kentucky."

TERRY COOK-29-Power Stroke Diesel/Oil Mate Ford F-150 (Finished 12th)

"We were off again today. We chased it from a tight condition to loose condition. We chased the truck. We thought that we were going to be a lot better than that, and unfortunately we weren't. We were going to salvage a top-10, and riding along there with about 35 laps to go the thing started vapor locking. The motor was just shutting off in the center of the corner. We just rode it out and the truck got even tighter there the last couple of laps. The fuel pressure dropped like two pounds and the motor was just stumbling and chugging and two more got by us and ruined our top-10. We had a ruined day as it was and we were going to salvage a top-10 and we couldn't even do that."

THE HEAT AFFECTED YOUR MOTOR, BUT HOW WAS IT INSIDE THE COCKPIT OF THE TRUCK?

"It was hot. It was tolerable, but it was extremely hot. You've got to do what you've got to do to prepare yourself for this kind of race by hydrating and keeping ice packs in the truck and keep air moving in there. I was OK during the race. It was hot and I was uncomfortable, but we survived. Obviously the truck wasn't as good as I was and it kept vapor locking."
