KANSAS CITY, Kansas - Despite a late race problem with the engine in his Roto-Rooter Chevrolet, Steve Portenga finished 11th in the O'Reilly Auto Parts 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at the Kansas Speedway Saturday, July 6. Mike Bliss won the race.

"I hate it that we dropped a cylinder at the end," Portenga said. "Without that, I think we were looking at our second top-10 of the season. But I'm not going to complain. We had the kind of weekend we need to have."

The performance was the second-best of the season for Portenga. He finished eighth in a race in Fountain, Colo. May 19.

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series continues with the Kroger 225 at the Kentucky Speedway Saturday, July 13. Portenga is ready for the race.

"We had this date circled on the calendar since the schedule was announced," he said. "With Roto-Rooter being in Cincinnati and with us basing our team there right now, the Kentucky Speedway is our home track.

"Coming off a quality run like we had this week at Kansas, there is no reason we can't go to Kentucky and put another top-10 finish on the board."
