Roush Racing's Jon Wood picked up his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series career pole at Memphis Motorsports Park today. Wood, whose team has been without a sponsor over the past few races, was delighted with the pole position.

"We knew we had a good practice run," Wood stated. "But I didn't think we were that good. This is great for the team, considering the situation we are in."

The team has been forced to do take one race at a time in the remaining 17 races. Wood recently finished third at the Texas Motor Speedway. Today's fast time was 22.997 seconds (117.407 mph).

Chad Chaffin also had his best ever qualifying run, with a time of 23.033 seconds (117.223 mph). The Bobby Hamilton Racing Dodge will start alongside Wood in the front row for Saturday's O'Reilly Auto Parts 200.

The veteran racer, Ted Musgrave took the third position, 23.061 seconds at 117.081 mph, in the Ultra Motorsports Dodge. Last year's Memphis champion, Travis Kvapil sits fourth. The Xpress Motorsports Chevy's lap time was 23.096 seconds (116.903 mph).

Rounding out the top five was Wood's teammate, Carl Edwards at 23.096 (116.903 mph). The No. 99 Ford comes off of a second-place finish at Texas.
